Welcome Back Everyone!

We've got quite an exciting few weeks ahead of us, be sure to check these events out!

First Meeting of the Year
Tuesday, September 15th, 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm, UCC60
We will be hosting out first meeting this year in UCC 60 (please note this is not the regular ML classroom from last year). Come out and show those new members how awesome our chapter is!

Member Learnings
Thursday, September 17th, 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm, UCC59
This upcoming Thursday will also be our first Member Learning session of the year (this is also going to be in a new room). Our first ML topic will be Intro to EWB. Come out and show your support!

Thursday, September 24th, 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm, UCC 59
The theme of the conversation will be about the upcoming election, and for those new to voting there will be a simple crash course which will cover the electoral system, the parties, and what the political spectrum is.

Advocacy Panel
October 1st
This will be a round table discussion hosted by our chapter with panelists from both the political and professional spheres. The panel will discuss international relations and Canada's position in the field of global development followed by an open question period afterwards.

#PoliticsAside
This is the current EWB campaign focused on gaining publicity around the topic of global development. We want to introduce global development into the federal election conversation and let politicians know that it matters to most Canadians.

If you'd like to have something included in next week's email, please convey it to me by Sunday evening.

Cheers,
Andrey

uwoewb EWB is concerned about the information presented in today's article from the Ottawa Citizen and what this means for Canada's role in the post-2015 development agenda. The decline in the Government of Canada's contribution to ODA points to a troubling trend. This, despite 2015 polling data that shows the majority of Canadians not only believe it's important to improve health, education and economic opportunity for the world's poorest people, but that doing so is our moral obligation as Canadians. EWB would like to see Canada reverse this trend and increase our investment in global poverty reduction with an eye towards the post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals.
