Check out the sweet jingle that will be broadcasted across northern Ghana for the next 7 weeks. Imagine hearing it 4 times a dayThis jingle is part of EWB and MoFA's campaign to promote the consumption of Ghana Rice in Ghana. The campaign which will be ramping up just before Christmas, is supported by EWB's overseas initiative to support innovation. See this post for more details on this exciting initiative to promote Ghana rice: http://my.ewb.ca/home/ShowPost/48754

If the jingle gets your mouth watering for some tasty and nutritious Ghana rice and your booty dancin due to the good beats then we've done a good job!

Haha that's great. Pretty catchy.

It addresses all of those consumer complaints (of your previous post) in a nice little lively musical package!

New, improved quality, clean and nutritious! How long until it's available in Vancouver?

Mongu rice is better!
Just my Zambian bias.

But a great catchy tune. Makes me miss African marketing!

hahaha I am absolutely loving this. I was in Mongu, Zambia this summer and they've got pretty damn good rice (supposedly the best in Southern Africa) but they definately didn't have a jingle like this! Perhaps this would be a good initiative over there in Western Province of Zambia as well!!!

Sarah,

I love it! You guys did an awesome job and it seems very appropriate marketing (well anyway from my removed perspective!)

Good job.

This is great Ghana Rice Team! Did you produce everything in Tamale? Who sung it?

Now, if only we could get a TV ad. space during weekly Nigerian movies!

That's amazingly catchy! I really want to buy the new, improved Ghana rice! Actually, I didn't catch all the words in that jingle... what does it now have? In any case, I loved it.

Ha, I love it! How did they end up de-stoning it? Is this something that other producers can do as well?

The jingle is catching on! Here in the Northern Region of Ghana, I've heard the jingle in English and Dagbani countless times on Radio Savannah. And... get this ... I overheard the girls in my compound singing the jingle!

Pretty cool!

I wonder if EWB could import some for the National Conference Gala dinner?

Sarah, holy pants, you've knocked it out of the park!!

Way to go Sarah! Awesome jingle. Forget development, you should try your hand at marketing! This is really exciting stuff.

It is sweet. Great work. I miss Ghana and the farmers a lot.

Have you heard any other feedback besides what Wayne says about the girls in the compound?
Is it too early? How are you planning on measuring the impact?...more JF/OVS "scavenger hunts"?

I'm making Jollof for my chapter holiday party...I'll see if I can get Ghana rice
...and I'll try not to burn it this time ;)

Sarah that is absolutely awesome!
To show how much I like it I downloaded it onto my computer and transferred it onto my phone with bluetooth (man technology is sweet) and it is now my ring tone for my phone! :P
Awesome stuff!!

If anyone else wants to put the jingle on their phone (and you know you do!) here's the mp3 we used (mono and lower quality). Hopefully it works! :D On Taylor's phone we connected it to my laptop with bluetooth and then just used the "Send File" option... I'm still kind of surprised that it worked. : ) I wish my phone had bluetooth too; Taylor now has the most awesome ringtone in Saskatoon.

Sarah - way to go! That's probably the most catchy jingle, ever. We've been randomly singing it in our house like all week now. : ) It has no stones! Awesome stuff.

It's so exciting to hear that everyone likes the jingle! Hats off to those who have put it as their ring tone. I hear George has it. So that's official, it's cool.

In case you're interested the lyrics:
Buy the New Improved qual'ty Ghana rice (Qual'ty is the Ghana way of saying quality) x2
For your sumptuous meals.
It's so tasty and more nutritious.
Buy the new improved qual'ty Ghana rice.
It's so CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN (hope the message is clear :) )

I have no idea who sung it. I worked with a recording studio to put together the jingle. They did the musical aspects while a friend and I put together the lyrics.

Too early to say much about the effect of the campaign but I am hoping to have some monitoring reports compiled by conference! Megan, this time I'm using National Service people to do the surveys :)

Next steps, start a marketing company to bring Ghana rice to EWBers in Canada!
